When you arrive for your first visit, please be prepared to complete all insurance and health information forms that will allow us to effectively manage your individualized dental treatment. We ask that you please arrive at least 15 minutes early for your first appointment to finish the paperwork. These forms help ensure that we have accurate information on any modifications which may be necessary prior to or during treatment. In addition, they assist us in working with your insurance company, if applicable, to allow you to maximize the benefits of your insurance plan. For your convenience, you may complete the patient forms here on our website. While filling out paperwork or waiting to get called back, help yourself to your choice of coffee with our Keurig coffee maker or a cup of flavored water!
Your initial exam will last approximately one hour. You will be escorted back to a treatment room by one of our smiling team members. Any necessary X-rays will be taken at this time. As you wait for the dental provider to come in, you will be asked what genre of music you would like to have playing. A comprehensive dental exam will then be performed by your dentist, including examination of X-rays, a gum disease evaluation, oral cancer screening, intraoral examination for tooth decay, and an examination of all existing restorations. As needed, intraoral photographs and diagnostic impressions may also be made to assist the dentist in planning your case. Oral hygiene instructions will be provided during this appointment, along with suggestions to help you care for your teeth. After all, at Martinez Dental Group we are in the business of saving teeth, not losing them.
Once all necessary information is obtained, your dentist will inform you of all significant findings. Your dentist will discuss the various options of your case with you and then together formulate an individualized treatment plan addressing your needs and desires. In many cases, we will also be able to clean your teeth at this initial visit.
